Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search tool is sent to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. Clinton County Criminal History does not keep or record those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
When you email us, the message is retained as needed to prepare and send a response. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers receive routine technical information when a visitor loads a page. That information can include:
- Page-view dates and times
- The referring website, when available
- Browser type and version
- Device type and operating system
- Internet Protocol address
- Pages viewed and the time spent on them
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. We use them with analytics services to understand aggregate traffic, such as which pages receive visits and where visits end. You may block cookies through browser controls. If you do, some site functions may work differently.
What We Do With This Data
- Route search requests to the proper outside service
- Diagnose and correct technical problems
- Keep pages available and responsive
- Measure which content visitors use
- Display advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Clinton County Criminal History does not compile, maintain, or sell a database of personal criminal-record information. It publishes general directions for obtaining records from the Clinton County courts and sheriff, the Kentucky State Police Criminal Identification and Records Branch, and the Kentucky State Police Sex Offender Registry. The website is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor data is not assembled into a consumer report or a record about another person.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the search boxes. Information submitted through a box is therefore handled under that provider's privacy policy, including its own retention and disclosure rules. We do not set or control those practices. Review the provider's policy before sending a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Clinton County offices, Kentucky courts and agencies, legal-aid resources, or outside search services. Once you follow such a link, the destination's privacy policy applies rather than this one. Read its terms before providing personal information.
Advertising companies may use their own systems to recognize activity across websites and select targeted advertising. That tracking is managed by those companies, not by us.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Data may be available in limited circumstances to:
- Advertising networks that serve ads on the website
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and performance
- Outside search providers that process submitted queries
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
We use customary security measures intended to protect the information in our care. No internet-connected system is completely secure, however, so we cannot guarantee that unauthorized access or a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from a person under 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such information, we will remove it.
Your Data Rights
Rights concerning personal data depend on the law that applies to you. You may ask to review information we hold about you, request a correction or deletion, or object to certain processing. The Kentucky Open Records Act, KRS 61.870 through 61.884, governs records held by Kentucky public agencies and does not turn this privately run website into a public agency. KRS 17.151 establishes the Kentucky State Police centralized criminal-history-record system and its dissemination framework; questions about a KSP repository record should be directed to KSP.
- Request access to personal information we retain about you
- Ask that inaccurate information be corrected
- Request deletion when applicable law permits it
- Opt out of processing when a governing law provides that choice
Updates to This Policy
This privacy policy may be revised. A changed policy will be posted here, and the effective date will be updated so visitors can tell when the current version took effect.
